Julyen Norman was an artist member and Executive Director of 1708 East
Main/1708 Gallery from 1988 to 1994. He organized the first 1708 Auction,
which had a goal of raising $5000 to
save the gallery from closure: that
first event realized over $15,000 and a tradition was born. With his wife of
25 years, dancer/choreographer Cathy Paine, he lives in the mountains of
western Maryland.
